Finding Protein patterns by ScanProsite
- Finding Protein patterns by ScanProsite
- Go to expasy.
- In tools and software, click on Scan Prosite.
- Left box is to find the patterns of the protein that are in other proteins too.
- Enter the accession number in the box.
- Tick on the exclusive motifs with high probability of occurrence. It excludes the one that can occur by chance.
- Don’t change the maximum matched sequences.i.e.1000.
- Click on scan start.
- Scan Prosite result is shown.
- C-X*-C shows the cystine disulphide bond.
- Then see the 6 hits on 1 sequence.
- Pattern of the protein is shown.
- In the graphical representation 1 hit is at the beginning and others are at the end.
- Grey box shows that they are specifically found at that position and they are only in that protein.
- PDB hits shows that this pattern of the protein is also present in PDB.
- In the sequence some letters are capital and some are small. Capital letters shows that they are conserved and small letters show that some changes can occur in this position..
2 hits on 1 sequence means 2 matches in the profile pattern.
